 Edwin James HORTON


 
Edwin James Horton was born in 188 in Dublin, Ireland, the son of Henry (Harry) Horton a Royal Navy Seaman, and Mary nee Dempsey.

In the 1911 census Edwin was listed as a Storekeeper in a Tin factory.

During WW1 Edwin went to India with the 1/25th County of London Cyclist Battalion in 1916. He participated in the Waziristan Campaign in 1917 (issued British & Victory medals). He also served in the 3rd Afghan war in 1919 for which he awarded the India General Service Medal, with clasp inscribed "Afghanistan, North-West Frontier, 1919".

He married Caroline Brittan in 1915.

Edwin died on the 12 June 1942 In Deptford, Kent.
