 Harry was born on 28th June 1894 in Holborn, London, the son of Eber, a police constable, and Adele Mary (nee Webster) also known as Mary Adele. He was baptised on 29th July 1894 at St. Bartholemew, Gray's Inn Rd, London. 

He was a Drum Major in the 25th.
