Herbert Swinnerton was born on the 25 May 1880 in Streatham, the son of George Isaac Swinnerton, a Curate, and Bessie Kate (nee Debenham).

He was educated at Lancing College.

He married Kathleen Susannah Manson in 1913, but they had no children.

He had been granted probate of his mother's will 5th August 1927, and that of his brother George 12th July 1947 at which time his occupation is given as that of solicitor.

On 2 Jan 1971 he is recorded as being in hospital, aged 90, Herbert, solicitor at Swaffham, Hendon Avenue, Littlehampton, Sussex.

He died in hospital, 2 January 1971, the Service was held at at All Saints church, SE3
