William was born in Windlesham in 1893
the son of George Baigent, a nursery labourer, and Susan (nee
Holmes).
He was a bricklayer before the war.
He
married Ada Rapley, and had four children.

Pte. - 25th London Regt. No's 2597 & 741100 [1/25th Regt.
Address Book*] - 'C' Coy. - Millbrook Cottage, Chobham, Woking.
He served in India and participated in the Waziristan
campaign in 1917 as confirmed by the medal roll. The crop he is
holding may indicate that William may have been working with the
battalion's pack animals. |

William is on the far left. This photo is
taken in England, and shows the soldiers with white cap bands, usually
used in exercises and manoeuvres. It may have been before the war as
the men do not have the battalion belt buckles.
