Recorded in the Chelsea Pensioner Hospital records.
Alexander Frederick Paterson's family lived in Battersea, well,
just off Clapham Common actually. Back then the two sides of the
family would spend alternate Christmas days at the others home,
walking between the two.
Alexander Frederick Paterson worked as a 'Tea Clearer' for Game
& Son, in East Cheap in the City before enlisting with the 25th on
16th Feb 1909. His stint with them ended on 15th Feb 1913, and he
re-enlisted with 6th London Brigade, Royal Field Artillery on 21st
April 1913 serving until 17th November 1914.
Things are a tad hazy round about this time, but he made his
way to Australia sometime early-ish 1915, and enlists with 6th
Australian Field Artillery in Sydney on 2nd July 1915.
He was KIA at Polygon Wood (third Battle of Ypres) on Wednesday
26th September 1917, and now rests in Hooge Crater Cemetery,
Ypres.
